The Barbara Biber Convocation is the centerpiece of the Bank Street Graduate School of Education orientation and welcome for incoming graduate students. The esteemed Barbara Biber Lecture provides an opportunity for the College community to engage with seminal scholars on leading issues in education that contribute to innovative practices and understandings in diverse settings.
About the Guest Speaker
Zaretta Hammond, MA, is a national consultant and author of Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain: Promoting Authentic Engagement and Rigor for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students. She is a former high school and community college expository writing instructor who is passionate about the intersection of literacy, equity and neuroscience. She has published articles in Educational Leadership, The Learning Professional, and Phi Delta Kappa.
