Description:
Assembly: 2:30 PM–3:00 PM
Evening Celebration: 6:00 PM–8:00 PM
All members of the Bank Street community are invited to join us for an afternoon assembly and evening celebration with Tourmaline, the acclaimed artist, filmmaker, and author, as she shares the inspiration behind her work and reads from her groundbreaking books.
From 2:30 PM–3:00 PM, Tourmaline will read from One Day in June and discuss the inspiration behind the story, as well as the research and creative process involved in learning about Marsha P. Johnson. She will reflect on the importance of radical community care, Marsha’s enduring legacy, and how it continues to inspire her own authentic and community-centered work. Books will be available in our DEI offices—please let us know if you would like a copy.
From 6:00 PM–8:00 PM, Tourmaline will share more about the inspiration behind her artistic practice and read from her groundbreaking books. A light dinner will be served.
