Morgan Altman

Supervised Fieldwork Advisor & Course Instructor

Morgan’s career as a professional educator has taken her from the woods of the Pacific North West to the Classrooms of New York City. She began her teaching journey as an outdoor educator and was inspired by the curiosity of children and the nuances of learning. While receiving a M.S. in Childhood Education with a Specialization in Environmental Science Morgan taught in Brooklyn NY. As a 5th grade math teacher she began to shift her understanding of what it means to be a mathematician and how people learn mathematics for understanding. With the support of an incredible math coach she was encouraged to apply to Bank Street’s Leadership in Mathematics program. Her time at Bank Street truly shaped the course of her career and life and attending the program is one of the best decisions she has ever made. Morgan believes the profession of teaching and learning is an intellectual endeavor and embracing her own learning is an essential aspect of her work.
