Summer Art Studio: Painting, Construction & Textile Arts

Join us this summer in a virtual zoom studio art time with Maria Elena Richa. This course will provide you with an opportunity to explore and discover properties of two-dimensional and three-dimensional materials, such as paint, cardboard, and textiles. During our time together, you will develop and have exposure to: language of art along with concepts of art, such as composition, line, color, and form. Scaffolded lessons will build confidence and skills each day along with a strong foundation for future art endeavours.

      Maria Elena Richa
      Maria Elena Richa currently teaches Art and Integrated Art in the Middle and Upper School grades at Bank Street School for Children. She has been an active member of the Bank Street community for the past 20 years, currently serving as a Leader and Subject Area Chair in the Art department and facilitator for the Racial Justice and Advocacy. For more than 15 years, Maria has dedicated time to share her experiences as an adjunct faculty member in the Bank Street Graduate School, teaching the course “Art for the Classroom Teacher”. She is also a curriculum developer and educator for “El Primer Contacto con el Arte” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Maria continues to work in her own studio, focusing on various mediums including construction, printmaking and textile arts. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA) from the Columbus College of Art and Design and a Master’s degree in Art Education (MA/EdM) from Teachers College, Columbia University.
