Dynamic Leadership: Inspiring & Supporting Your Teaching Faculty

This course is designed for administrators, program directors and emerging leaders working in education settings. Participants will identify opportunities and challenges inherent in the leadership role and examine ways to build engaging teaching and learning communities. Discussion will emphasize concrete ways to motivate, support, inspire and cultivate teacher leaders. Topics will include: exploring your leadership role, creating positive school culture, building effective collaborative teams, understanding your thinking preferences, and building capacity in others.

      Betsy McKenna
      Betsy McKenna, MSEd, is currently an Educational Consultant and Leadership Coach. She was the former Head of Lower School at Town School in New York City and Head of Early Childhood at the New Canaan Country School in Connecticut, where she designed a comprehensive innovative pedagogy of early childhood education. She is the co-author of Art workshops for Children: How to Foster Original thinking with more than 25 Process Art Experiences (Quarry Books, 2016). She has over 20 years of experience in pedagogical innovation in independent schools and has studies the translation of pedagogy into international education. Her experience includes teacher training, development of educational space, and humanizing the experience of educators and students, on which she has lectured and published. McKenna received her Executive Coaching Certificate from Teachers College, Columbia University. She holds an MS in Education, specializing in Supervision and Administration from Bank Street College and a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Vermont, Burlington.
