Printmaking in the Classroom: Just Roll With It! (Grades K - 5)

Learn how to bring the artisanal, time-honored art-making process of relief printmaking into your classroom. We’ll let process and craft guide the way as we turn simple sketches and doodles into interesting color combinations and exciting compositions. Printmaking encourages iteration, revision, improvisation and strengthens mind-body connections. It’s a chance for you to get your hands dirty and provide an opportunity for your students to take a break from the screen! Get ready to pick up a roller and “just roll with it”.

      Stephen Savage
      Stephen Savage is a NY Times bestselling children’s book illustrator, author, printmaker and educator whose accolades include a New York Times Best Illustrated Book (Polar Bear Night), a Geisel Honor (Supertruck), and a Sendak Fellowship. He’s created 17 children's books and over a thousand spot illustrations for the New Yorker, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek, and Entertainment Weekly and other leading publications. He teaches illustration at the School of Visual Arts and lives in Park Slope, Brooklyn with his wife, daughter, and their dog.
