Using AI as a Thought Partner in the Elementary Classroom (Grades 3 - 6)

Educators interested in the intersection of AI, teaching and learning are encouraged to join this session as we consider practical ways to sustain curiosity, human connection, and critical thinking in an AI-enhanced world. This presentation showcases how three elementary educators integrate AI tools within a progressive, inquiry-driven framework across third, fourth, and fifth grade (art, science, literacy, social studies, math). AI acts as a thought partner, extending human capacity for differentiation, task generation, scaffolding reasoning, deepening inquiry, and fostering creativity, rather than replacing the teacher. AI also assists with professional work, such as drafting authentic narrative reports. All interested in AI and education are encouraged to join to explore practical ways to sustain curiosity, connection, and critical thinking in an AI-enhanced world.
