Description:
Join us for a special public session within EdPrepLab’s 2026 Spring Convening featuring civil rights pioneer Dr. Leona Tate.
The Science of Learning and Development (SoLD) foregrounds the importance of rich, relational learning experiences—for youth in schools as well as in-service and preservice educators. This session explores community-engaged educator preparation as a responsive approach to strengthening local relationships, elevating essential histories, and generating transformative possibilities for teaching, learning, and leading.
Featured speakers from Tulane University’s School of Professional Advancement and the Tate Etienne and Prevost (TEP) Center will share their work across the education sector in New Orleans, with a focus on engaging the local community, schools, and teacher and leader candidates in experiential learning about the legacy of school desegregation in New Orleans and the United States. Their work also considers implications for practice, preparation, and policy.
All members of the EdPrepLab network and the general public are welcome to attend.
