Agenda for Event:

5:15 PM – 5:30 PM Check-in
5:30 PM – 6:00 PM Welcome and Working Definition of Social Justice: Dr. Beverly Falk, High-Quality Early Childhood Education for a Changing World
6:00 PM – 7:00 PM Small Group Discussions
7:00 PM – 8:00 PM Networking Reception, Book Sale, and Book Signing with Dr. Beverly Falk

Our small group discussions are designed to help participants develop practice-based, learner-centered approaches to productively address injustice and inequity on behalf of all children to strengthen learning and community.

We will consider the following questions (among others) that have emerged from our previous conversations:

  1. How do I stay effective when emotions run high in response to daily occurrences?
  2. What are some of our successes, failures, and ‘try-agains’?
  3. How can we navigate the obstacles to teaching for social justice at this particular moment in time and history?

All interested educators, parents, teachers, and leaders are welcome! Refreshments will be served. Please join us and share with interested colleagues!

The BSCAA Social Justice Committee has joined with the Bank Street College Graduate School/Bank Street Bookstore Partnership to develop a list of books for children and adults that will support socially just, learner-centered practices. During the networking reception and book signing with Dr. Falk, the Bank Street Bookstore will offer a selection of books for sale at a 20% discount for participants.

RSVP is required to enter the building.
