Event Title:
Lunchtime Learning Series | Learning and Insights from The Long Trip to Puerto Rico

Description:
Bank Street founder Lucy Sprague Mitchell believed that immersive learning trips enrich teaching by allowing educators to connect deeply with a place—its people, geography, history, and culture. Building on this vision, the Long Trip 2025 took place in Puerto Rico this summer to deepen educators’ understanding of the historical and contemporary contexts that shape the lives of Puerto Rican students and their families. Through visits, conversations, and shared experiences, participants learned about Puerto Rico’s history, culture, economy, and politics—knowledge that strengthens our practice as educators and enhances our ability to support students and families with roots on the island.
