World Café | Creating Meaningful Partnerships and Communities in Educator Preparation (1:00 PM ET)
Learning is an active, interactive, constructive, and iterative process. It occurs through the interaction of people, problems, ideas, and tools as people get feedback from their actions and about their ideas. Professional communities of practice must empower developing teachers through mutual support, opportunities to learn from others’ perspectives and expertise, and modeling for leading an emotionally safe and collaborative classroom. These learning communities are facilitated when teacher education programs have strong, reciprocal relationships with schools and their wider communities along with support for pre- and in-service teachers through professional learning communities, ongoing professional development, and attention to equity, inclusion, social-emotional learning, and wellness. How does teacher education create structures that give time and space to develop these communities and employ practices that nurture relationships within collaborative learning spaces?
