Event Title:
Join Us! Learn About Our Math Leadership Program | Virtual Info Session

Description:
Bank Street’s Office of Graduate Admissions is hosting a virtual information session about our Leadership in Mathematics Education program—one of the few programs in the nation that grounds preparation for school leadership in mathematics education and allows you to be eligible for your School Building Leader (SBL) license upon graduation. We’ll also tell you about the National Science Foundation Fellowship for Teacher Leaders in Math Education that Bank Street was just awarded! I hope you’ll join us to learn more.

Program highlights:

  • Fully online 16-month program, starting this summer.
    • If you apply for and are accepted into the fellowship program, you’ll start a four-year fellowship in Fall 2025, once you complete your 16-month program, offered in partnership with the New York Hall of Science. You’ll earn an additional $10,000-per-year stipend as you continue as a classroom teacher and participate in professional development and networking.
  • Using inquiry-based, student-centered pedagogies appropriate to all learners, mathematics at Bank Street focuses on developing leaders who deeply understand mathematical concepts and how to teach all learners for conceptual understanding.
  • Our progressive approach views teaching mathematics not as a series of strategies and formulas to memorize, but as a language used to conceptualize the world.
  • Graduates are eligible for a New York State School Building Leader license at the end of the program (if you’re outside of New York, you can pursue certification in your home state at program completion).

Our one-hour virtual info session will include breakout rooms with our Program Director Robin Hummel (who is also a proud graduate of the program!), and members of the admissions, financial aid/scholarship, certification, and career services teams.
