Featured Presentation: World Class Trip: Teaching Towards the Global Community
By Dr. Robin Hancock, Director, The Guttman Center for Early Care and Education at Bank Street College
Robin is an early education specialist committed to community organizing and strengthening the work of early childhood educators. She began her teaching career ten years ago in New Haven, CT. After completing an MA in Social Anthropology at Brandeis University, Robin moved to California where she began to engage in social justice work, creating and sustaining early literacy programs with a focus on community engagement and culturally relevant student-teacher professional development. In 2009, she returned to the East Coast to complete work on a Doctorate in Curriculum and Teaching with a concentration in Early Childhood Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. Under her leadership, the Guttman Center is actively building systems of support for day care providers in the under-served communities of New York City.
