Library Salon #34
“Liberty Partnership Program 1989: Recalling, Reflecting, and Celebrating a Bank Street Legacy”

Description:

How often as teachers do we get to revisit the impact of our work with our students more than 30 years later?

Join us in person or online for Library Salon #34, an occasion for members of the first cohort of Bank Street’s Liberty Partnership Program—now known as Liberty LEADS—to come together and collectively remember and rekindle the power of the program in their lives.

Hosted by founding Liberty director Dr. David Penberg, GSE ’83, the event will feature former Bank Street staff member Jeff Hall as well as Liberty graduates Daniel Ferrond, Eric Williams, Tara Crichlow, Yazmin Taylor Heart, Kimani Davis, and Madelyn Baez.

About Dr. David Penberg

Dr. David Penberg, GSE ’83, is an educator, writer, and teacher based in the Catskill mountains of New York. He is an urban and international educator who, for four decades, has supported communities of teachers, students, and leaders in deepening our understanding of what it means to become an educated citizen. He is presently a fellow with Global Spirit Education, based in the United Kingdom. His travelogue includes Bogotá, Colombia; Mexico City, Mexico; Guangzhou, China; Barcelona, Spain; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and, most recently, Kuppam, India. “Young Geographers” has accompanied him wherever he’s been.
