Event Title:
Reflecting on the Creative Curriculum Implementation in NYC: Voice From the Field
Hosted by Bank Street Graduate School of Education in partnership with faculty from Hunter and Brooklyn Colleges.

Description:

On May 9th 2023, Mayor Eric Adams and NYC Public Schools Chancellor David Banks launched NYC Reads. In tandem with this initiative, the Division of Early Childhood announced the rollout of the Creative Curriculum mandate for public early childhood settings.

Unified in our efforts to support early childhood educators working in 3K and pre-K Programs and beyond, faculty from Bank Street, Hunter College, and Brooklyn College invite you to join us for a panel discussion with practitioners and school leaders to reflect on this consequential decision, one year on.

We will come together to talk with people who developed the prior interdisciplinary Units of Study, hear from teachers about what has changed, and raise questions about the implementation of this structured curriculum. Our panel includes teachers, community leaders and policy developers.
