Childhood Special and General Education Dual Certification Residency Program

Join a cohort of aspiring teachers for a two-year teacher residency in a New York City school. This residency program in childhood general and special education offers the chance to earn your master’s degree with a hands-on apprenticeship in an elementary school classroom (first through sixth grade). You’ll graduate ready to be a confident and effective change agent who has the experience to make a difference from the start.

About Our Residency Program

As a teacher resident, you’ll participate in a full-time residency in a New York City public school where you’ll:

Work alongside an experienced mentor teacher to develop your skills and learn by doing
Complete your program in approximately two years
Receive a scholarship that reduces your tuition by over 50%
Earn a stipend of up to $30,000 in your first year of residency
Have the opportunity to be hired to teach full time and with benefits in your second year while you complete
advanced coursework and final projects for your master’s degree program and teaching certification
