As a member of the Progressive Leadership faculty, Dr. Shokry Eldaly facilitates leader development through approaches centered on transformative and reflective practice, action research, empirical approaches to efficacy, applied learning architecture, experiential learning, and the grounding of leadership in social and education justice outcomes. He holds degrees from Hunter College, Goddard College, Bank Street, and Columbia University, where he earned his Doctorate in Adult Learning and Leadership.
Dr. Eldaly’s career in education began as a commitment to serving youth and communities impacted by the school-to-prison pipeline. As a New York City Department of Education teacher, Shokry designed curricula for students in both minimum and maximum security settings. After serving as a teacher and education administrator in incarcerated school settings for nearly a decade, Dr. Eldaly next served as a successful District Turnaround and Renewal Coach, then as a school leader in the South Bronx, before becoming the Deputy Superintendent of Lilleth Patmore Schools. As Deputy Superintendent, Dr. Eldaly co-developed community approaches to clinical and therapeutic support that are still being used by the District’s successors today.
In addition to teaching at Bank Street, Dr. Eldaly conducts research on the development of efficacy, critical literacy, transformative learning, and leadership. He also facilitates professional learning institutes and serves as a coach for educational leaders, cultural institutions, and school systems across the globe.
Prior to joining Bank Street, Dr. Eldaly taught at CUNY and Columbia University Teachers College, where he currently serves as faculty in the AEGIS (Adult Learning and Leadership) Doctoral program.
