Art Studio: Discovering Self While Learning More About Drawing, Painting, and Collage

Join us this summer for virtual studio art time with Maria Elena Richa. This course will provide you with an opportunity to explore and discover properties of two-dimensional and three-dimensional materials, such as paint, cardboard, and textiles. During our time together, you will develop and have exposure to the language of art along with concepts of art, such as composition, line, color, and form. Scaffolded lessons will build confidence and skills each day along with a strong foundation for future art endeavors.

      Maria Richa
      Maria Elena Richa is currently the Director, Diversity and Equity, at the Bank Street School for Children, where she taught Art in many of the Middle and Upper School grades, as well as most Integrated Art periods in the Middle School. She has been an active member of the community for the past 21 years. In addition she is an adjunct instructor in the Bank Street Graduate School teaching a signature course that introduces teachers to art making experiences and children's artistic development. Richa continues to work in her own studio, focusing on original collages, quilts making, sculptures and prints. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA) from the Columbus College of Art and Design and a Master’s degree in Art Education (MA/EdM) from Teachers College, Columbia University.
